What actually shortens joint life in Buena Park.
Decades of deck movement leave a mark. On a pool that has been in the ground thirty or forty years, the joint has already absorbed a great deal of expansion and contraction, the walls have been cut and recut, and the channel is often wider and more irregular than it started. None of that is a problem for a properly sized bead on correctly set backer rod, but it is exactly the situation where a rushed job fails fast. Across Buena Park the pattern is consistent enough that we can usually tell from one photo how long a joint has left. The decks around Bellehurst, Los Coyotes and Crescent Village are no different, and neither is the fix: the whole bead out, wall to wall, and a new one that can actually move.
